Basic info

AI help uses this to pick the right words.

Photo (optional)

Stays in this browser. Many job portals in the US and UK prefer no photo; choose a design without one there.

How to make your resume

  1. 1

Start from text, or fill in your details

Paste your old resume, your LinkedIn profile or a few lines about yourself, and AI fills the form. Or type each section yourself. Leave out what you do not have.

  2. 2

    Improve a section with AI

Press “Improve with AI” under a section. You see the new text first and choose to use it or keep yours.

  3. 3

    Pick a design

On the Design tab, choose one of 9 templates (including Jake's Resume, Deedy, Awesome-CV and an IIT-style campus format), a colour and a font, and turn your photo on or off. The preview changes as you click.

  4. 4

    Download the PDF

Check the preview, then press “Download PDF”. The file has real text, so job sites and ATS software can read it.

Tips for a better resume

  • Keep it to one page if you have less than 5 years of experience.
  • Start each bullet with an action word: built, led, fixed, moved, cut.
  • Give a number when you have a real one: users, time saved, size of the team.
  • Put the skills the job post asks for in your skills list, if you have them.
  • Use the same job title and dates as on LinkedIn, so they match.

Frequently asked questions

Is this resume builder really free?

Yes. You can make, edit and download as many resumes as you like. There is no sign-up and no watermark on the PDF.

Where is my resume saved?

Only in this browser, on this device. We do not save it on our server. If you clear your browser data or use another device, the draft is gone, so keep the PDF you download.

Can I start from my old resume or LinkedIn profile?

Yes. Press “Start from text” and paste the text of your old resume or LinkedIn profile, or write a few lines about yourself. AI puts each fact in the right field. Fields your text does not cover stay empty, and anything AI could not find in your text is marked “Check this”.

What do the AI buttons send, and is it stored?

“Improve with AI” sends only the text of that one section (and your job title, if you typed one). “Start from text” sends the text you pasted. Our server asks an AI model to work on it and does not store the text. You always see the result before you keep it.

Will the AI add things I did not do?

It is told to keep your facts and not to invent numbers, tools or jobs. AI can still make mistakes, so read the new text before you use it.

Is the PDF ATS-friendly?

Every PDF has real text (not an image) and standard section names. The one-column designs (Classic, Minimal, Jake's Resume, Awesome-CV) are what applicant tracking systems read best — use them for job portals. The two-column and table designs look good to people, but some scanners read their columns in the wrong order.

Should I add a photo?

It depends on where you apply. Many employers in India, Europe and the Middle East expect one. In the US and the UK most do not, and some ask you not to. Your photo stays in this browser; you can turn it off on the Design tab at any time.

Is a CV the same as a resume?

In India and many other countries people use the words for the same document. In the US a resume is a short 1–2 page summary, and a CV is a longer academic record. This tool makes the short kind, which most job posts ask for.

How many times can I use AI help?

“Improve with AI”: up to 5 times a minute and 30 times a day. “Start from text”: up to 3 times a minute and 15 times a day. These limits are per network, so the free tool stays open for everyone.
