How the merit number is estimated
This rank predictor uses real results, not a formula. The CAP final merit list for Maharashtra State candidates shows every candidate's MHT-CET percentile and merit number. We counted how many candidates were at or above each percentile in the 2025 and 2026 lists. Between two counted points, the merit number is read off a straight line.
The merit list includes only Maharashtra State candidates who applied for engineering admission (CAP). In 2025 that was 48% of everyone who wrote the exam (2,03,766 of 4,22,663), so your merit number is much better than your position among all candidates.
The 2026 list has more candidates than the 2025 list (2,29,563 against 2,03,766), and 2026 used the better of two attempts. So the same percentile gave a larger (worse) merit number in 2026. The tool shows both years.
Frequently asked questions
What merit number will I get with 99 percentile in MHT-CET?
In the 2026 merit list, 99 percentile was merit number 4,345. In 2025 it was 3,321.
What merit number did 90 and 95 percentile get?
In 2026, 95 percentile was merit number 21,217 and 90 percentile was 42,312. In 2025 they were 17,306 and 34,028.
What is the MHT-CET merit number?
It is your position in the state merit list for engineering admission (CAP). Seats are allotted in merit order, together with your college choices and category. This tool shows the general merit number, not a category-wise one.
I am from outside Maharashtra. Does this apply to me?
No. Candidates from outside Maharashtra are ranked in a separate All India merit list. This tool uses the list for Maharashtra State candidates only.
What is the MHT-CET PCM exam pattern?
The paper has 150 questions for 200 marks. Mathematics has 50 questions of 2 marks each (100 marks). Physics and Chemistry have 50 questions each of 1 mark (50 + 50 marks). There is no negative marking. The exam takes 180 minutes: Physics and Chemistry first, then Mathematics.
What does percentile mean in MHT-CET?
MHT-CET is held in many sessions. Your percentile is the share of candidates in YOUR session who scored the same as you or less. The top scorer of every session gets 100. It is not the percentage of marks you got.
Why does my MHT-CET scorecard show no marks?
The State CET Cell declares the result in percentile format only. It does not publish raw marks or a marks-to-percentile table. Students usually work out their raw marks from the official answer key.
How many students wrote MHT-CET PCM in 2026?
2026 had two attempts. 4,54,069 candidates appeared in the first attempt and 2,85,121 in the second. Many students wrote both, so these two numbers cannot be added. In 2025, 4,22,663 candidates appeared (State CET Cell).
If I write both attempts, which score counts?
The better of your two TOTAL percentiles counts for admission. Subject percentiles from the two attempts are not mixed.
Is this official CET Cell data?
Partly. Candidate numbers and merit numbers come from official CET Cell documents. The marks-to-percentile part is not official: it is the spread of estimates from several education websites, because no real table exists. Use this page to plan, not as a promise.
