JEE Main 2026 marks vs percentile vs rank
Each row shows the lowest and highest percentile that the published 2026 shift tables give for that score. The spread comes from the shifts: the same marks are worth more in a hard shift than in an easy one.

How this estimate works
NTA does not publish a marks-to-percentile table. So we collected the tables that four publishers (Careers360, Competishun, Collegedunia and Cracku) released after the 2026 results, one table per exam shift — 58 in total. Tables that copy another publisher or call themselves predictions were left out.
For your score we read every shift table and show the lowest and the highest percentile they give. Where a shift table stops, it is continued with the shape of the whole-exam table, scaled to match that shift. More marks never show a lower percentile.
The rank is worked out from the percentile: about (100 − percentile)% of the 15,38,468 candidates who appeared scored above you.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good score in JEE Main?
In the 2026 tables, 99 percentile needed about 151–195 marks, depending on the shift. 100 marks gave roughly 88–96 percentile, and 120 marks roughly 92–98. Check the table on this page for any score.
How many marks are needed for the JEE Advanced cutoff?
The General cutoff was 93.41 percentile in 2026. In the 2026 tables that is roughly 86–128 marks, depending on the shift. Category cutoffs are lower; see the table on this page.
What is the JEE Main exam pattern?
Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) has 75 questions for 300 marks: 25 each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical). A correct answer gives +4, a wrong answer gives -1, and an unanswered question gives 0. Since 2025 the numerical section has no optional questions and also has negative marking.
What does percentile mean in JEE Main?
Your percentile is the share of candidates in YOUR shift who scored the same as you or less. For example, 98 percentile means 98% of your shift scored at or below your marks. It is not the percentage of marks you got.
Why does the same score give a different percentile in different shifts?
Each shift has a different paper. In an easy shift many students score high, so you need more marks for the same percentile. In a hard shift fewer marks give the same percentile. That is why this tool shows a range, not one number.
How many students wrote JEE Main 2026?
NTA reports 13,04,653 candidates appeared in the January session and 10,34,330 in the April session. 15,38,468 unique candidates appeared in total (15.38 lakh), up from 14.75 lakh in 2025.
What was the JEE Advanced cutoff in JEE Main 2026?
For the General (Common Rank List) category the qualifying percentile was 93.4123549 in 2026, against 93.1023262 in 2025. The table on this page shows every category for both years.
Is this official NTA data?
No. NTA publishes candidate numbers, cutoffs and percentiles, but it does not publish a marks-to-percentile table or a percentile-to-rank formula. This tool combines NTA numbers with several publishers’ post-result tables and shows the full range they give. Use it to plan, not as a promise.
