Infosys Fresher Salary 2026: ₹3.6 LPA Means About ₹26,343 a Month in Hand

An Infosys Systems Engineer offer of ₹3.6 LPA comes to about ₹26,343 a month in hand in a metro city under the new tax regime. The gap from the expected ₹30,000 comes from PF, professional tax, and gratuity.

A counter showing ₹3.6 LPA on top and ₹26,343 per month below, illustrating the gap between CTC and in-hand salary.

Divide 3.6 lakh by 12 and you get ₹30,000. That 3.6 lakh is the standard CTC for an Infosys Systems Engineer fresher, according to myinhand.in's Infosys salary page. Your first Infosys salary slip will not show ₹30,000, and the gap is the reason this post exists.

An Infosys Systems Engineer offer of ₹3.6 LPA comes to about ₹26,343 a month in hand in a metro city under the new tax regime. Your salary slip shows less than CTC ÷ 12 because CTC includes employer PF and gratuity, and PF and professional tax are deducted. Variable pay and city can move the figure a little (myinhand.in calculation).

The ₹26,343 calculation, line by line

Gross monthly pay is ₹27,983, and two deductions take it down to ₹26,343 with no income tax at this salary, per the myinhand.in breakdown for FY 2026-27. The table below uses three assumptions: you work in a metro city, you pick the new tax regime, and the year is FY 2026-27. These are calculator estimates, not payslip data, and the ₹26,343 is fixed monthly pay only, so any variable pay comes on top and is not part of it.

Line on the salary slipMonthly amount (₹)
Basic salary12,000
HRA (house rent allowance)+ 6,000
Special allowance+ 9,983
Gross monthly pay27,983
Employee PF− 1,440
Professional tax− 200
Income tax (new regime)− 0
In-hand monthly pay26,343
Source: myinhand.in, Infosys fresher salary 2026

You can recompute this on your phone calculator. Add the first three lines, then subtract the next three. Employee PF is a fixed share of your basic pay, which is why it is a round number against a round basic.

Income tax is zero because income at this level is covered by the rebate in the new regime. Check the current slabs and the rebate limit on the Income Tax Department's official site before you rely on this. Professional tax is a small state tax, and it is cut from your pay every month.

The bigger question is where the rest of the 3.6 lakh goes. CTC means "cost to company": everything Infosys spends on you in a year, not what it pays into your bank. Infosys counts its own PF contribution and gratuity inside CTC (myinhand.in).

Employer PF goes into your PF account. It is still your money, but you cannot spend it this month. Gratuity is a lump sum paid only if you stay with the company for a set number of years. Neither one ever appears in your monthly credit.

HCL fresher salary 2026 and LTIMindtree fresher salary next to Infosys

With the same metro and new-regime assumptions, LTIMindtree's ₹4 LPA offer pays the most in hand. TCS Ninja pays the least of the four. Both come from the myinhand.in LTIMindtree calculation and its sister pages. Here are the four mass-hiring offers side by side.

Company and roleCTCMonthly in-hand (metro, new regime)
LTIMindtree Engineer Trainee₹4.0 LPA₹29,292
Infosys Systems Engineer₹3.6 LPA₹26,343
HCL Graduate Engineer Trainee₹3.5 LPA₹25,606
TCS Ninja₹3.36 LPAestimate (range ₹22,800–24,900)
Sources: LTIMindtree, Infosys, HCL and TCS (myinhand.in)

These are calculator estimates, not salary slips from each company. The TCS figure is the top of a ₹22,800–24,900 range, and its CTC is listed as ₹3.36–3.4 LPA (myinhand.in comparison table). The HCL page gives ₹23,500–25,500 as a range and ₹25,606 from its exact calculation, so the table uses the exact figure (myinhand.in HCL page).

Look at the gap between the top row and the bottom row. It is a few thousand rupees a month. That matters on a tight budget, but it rarely justifies picking a worse project or a city you cannot afford.

Variable pay is not guaranteed money

Variable pay is usually a small slice of CTC and the company can pay less than the target. For Infosys Systems Engineer freshers it is typically 5–8% of CTC, paid in two parts each year, according to an older 2024 guide (Insight Crunch salary structure guide).

The "target" is the amount written in your letter. The actual payout is a share of that target, set by the company based on its results and your rating. In a weak quarter, the share drops, and nobody asks you first.

Open your offer letter and find one thing: does the variable amount sit inside the CTC figure? If it does, your fixed yearly pay is lower than the headline number. If it sits outside, the CTC is your fixed pay and variable is extra.

Here is how the two ways of budgeting compare.

Pros

  • Budgeting on fixed pay only: your rent and EMI never depend on a payout you do not control.
  • Any variable payout becomes savings or an emergency fund.
  • A cut in the payout share does not hurt your month.

Cons

  • Counting on variable pay: you plan around money that arrives only twice a year.
  • A lower payout share leaves a hole in your budget.
  • You may sign a rent agreement that the fixed pay alone cannot cover.

Does your city change an Infosys fresher's pay?

Only a little: city-wise Infosys fresher CTC sits in a narrow band, so rent matters more than the salary difference. Across Infosys fresher roles, Hyderabad and Chennai offers sit around ₹3.7–4.1 LPA, while Bengaluru and Pune sit around ₹3.6–4.0 LPA, and so does Delhi, so the ₹3.6 LPA Systems Engineer offer is at the low end (inhandctc.com city-wise breakdown).

Location allowances and HRA mostly change how the CTC is split between components, not the total. A posting in one city might show a larger HRA line and a smaller special allowance than the same role elsewhere. The gross can stay almost the same.

Tax treatment can differ too. A metro offer and the same offer in a smaller city can carry a different HRA figure. Under the old tax regime, the tax-free part of HRA is larger in a metro than in a smaller city. Under the new regime, HRA gets no exemption at all, so the split matters less.

Say you get posted to Bengaluru and a friend gets Chennai on the same role. Your CTCs might differ slightly, and the Chennai friend may earn a little more. Your rent will probably decide who saves more each month, not the offer letter.

SDE fresher salary in India: where Infosys SE sits

A ₹3.6 LPA Infosys offer is a normal services-company salary, and product companies pay several times more. Mass hiring at services companies pays ₹3–4.5 LPA, or about ₹20k–34k a month in hand, while product and SaaS companies pay ₹6–18+ LPA (Asmorix IT fresher salary report).

Inside Infosys, the hiring track changes your pay far more than any city or company comparison. The Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) track pays ₹6.25 LPA, which is about ₹47,281 a month in hand. The Specialist Programmer (SP) track pays ₹9.5–21 LPA (myinhand.in track-wise figures).

The track matters more than the company name. An SP offer at Infosys can match a product-company offer, while an SE offer sits with the other services companies in the table above.

This post is about the pay slip, not the selection process. For the tests, sections and how to reach DSE or SP, read the Infosys hiring process 2026 guide. To see how pay grows after the first job at product companies, the SDE-1 vs SDE-2 vs SDE-3 post covers the ladder.

First-year hike takes ₹3.6 LPA to roughly ₹3.9–4.3 LPA

The first appraisal adds 6–12% depending on your band, so the starting number is not where you stay. Top bands get 8–12%, which can take a ₹3.6 LPA Systems Engineer to ₹3.9–4.3 LPA after the first appraisal (myinhand.in hike estimates).

Your hike depends on two things: your performance rating and your band. The rating comes from your manager's review of the year. A low rating keeps you at the bottom of that range, even if the company has a good year.

Check your own offer letter against these numbers

You can sanity-check any offer in four steps by splitting CTC into fixed, variable and employer-paid parts, the same way the Insight Crunch component guide breaks down Infosys pay. Keep the annexure of your offer letter open while you work.

  1. Find fixed and variable pay

Look for the salary annexure. Note the fixed yearly pay and the variable target separately.

  2. Remove employer-paid parts

Subtract employer PF and gratuity from the fixed pay. What is left, divided by twelve, is your gross monthly pay.

  3. Remove your own deductions

Subtract employee PF and professional tax from the gross monthly figure. Check whether any income tax applies to your regime.

  4. Compare with the table

Put your result next to the four-company comparison above. If it is far off, ask HR which component you misread.

Common mistakes. The first is counting variable pay as monthly money, when it arrives twice a year and may be smaller than the target. The second is comparing two offers by CTC instead of in-hand pay. Two letters with close CTCs can put different amounts in your account, because the employer-paid parts and the split between components differ.

If your offer looks low and you want a better track next time, start with what recruiters screen for in the resume skills guide for freshers.

Take your offer letter tonight, rebuild the monthly number with the same three numbers (gross minus PF minus professional tax), and compare it with the table. Then read the Infosys hiring process post to see which track an offer like yours belongs to.
